Good News

First item of good news - I GOT A CAMERA!!! Thanks Melissa for guiding me down the right path. This camera is already impressing me and I don't even really know how to use it.

Second item - It snowed today in Logan (that wasn't the good news). Without a camera I wouldn't have been able to capture this Cache Valley Phenomenon. Sardine Canyon is on fire with fall colors. When I saw the snow this morning the first thing I thought was, "the leaves!". It made me sad to think of all those beautiful leaves sitting under a blanket of snow. As we drove through the canyon tonight we saw this! Half Fall half Winter. It's quite a sight.

Since this is my first SLR, any photography tips would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Native American Day!

This year won't be the same without Kya Feather.

Whenever I get stressed or down I do one of the following things:

*Cook something delicious
*Treat myself to a nap
*Crochet
*Let my mind escape to Alaska

Thinking about Alaska, for some reason, makes me so happy and excited. I want to go so bad! Lately however, I have been taking mini vacations from Alaska to a place that for some reason I can't get out of my head.

Montauk
Ever since I saw Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless mind I have wanted to go. Anytime I hear the word Montauk I feel all gooey inside. Is that weird? Sometimes I play that Nelly Furtado song Give It To Me over and over because of that one line.

My favorite Chef on Food Network is Ina Garten. Her show is filmed in East Hampton which is close to Montauk. I secretly love when she goes on her little field trips because I love to see the sights there, even though the segments are SO cheesy.

I think if I could buy any house I wanted right now, this would be the house. I would invite Ina over every day for lunch. Think of all the fresh crab I could eat here! I imagine the house to have all wood floors, simple art, good lighting, fresh hearty food in the pantry, with lots of books and fresh flowers.

It would be perfect.

Look! Doesn't it look like Ina and I would be best friends?

Not that anyone who reads this cares, but she is so great. She used to work in the White House as a Nuclear Policy Analyst. She got tired of that and decided to buy this little specialty food shop because she loved food and entertaining. Now, without any formal culinary training she has written 6 cookbooks and has her own show. I would love for her to teach me how to cook, oh wait, she does everyday at three o'clock. She has taught me to simplify, enjoy the people I love and eat well.

Wow, this post is psycho and random...

Finally!

I have finally crossed the barrier between an amateur and a intermediate crocheter. aka - I'm a senior citizen. I even finished this without any of my grandmas help.

He dazzles

Dale said it best, "He's intense". I don't go to very many shows anymore but for some reason whenever Joshua James comes to town I always find a way to go. There is just something about his music and stage presence that always satisfies. His new album came out and it does not disappoint. The cover art weirds me out but I'll get over it. Last night Hayley wanted me to reprimand him for denying us a picture last winter but I chickened out. I did offer him two dollars for an autograph. He was in such a good mood that he did it for free. What a sweetheart.

Here are two of my favorites

Labor of Love

I did so many lovely things this weekend. Canoeing on a full moon, alligatoring across Bear Lake, riding the bull with my home girls and so much more that you had to be here to believe. This movie just topped it off for me. 500 days of summer "scratched me right where I itch". I'll give you a dollar if you can tell me who said that. Anyways, this song is great, just like the rest of the soundtrack. This video is anti-climatic so just listen to it while you do something worthwhile on the interweb or something. Enjoy.

This morning I woke up to this in my room. I took this picture on my phone so excuse the poor quality. It made my day. Mckay said He has been in her closet forever. She has been waiting for the day when my door was open a crack at night so she could sneak it in. I love having him in my room. I was and am a strong supporter of Bush. I am happy he is out of the harsh media spotlight and can now enjoy his life on his sweet 'a' ranch. I google earth'd it and it looks pretty sweet. People say he ruined our economy because of Iraq and made poor choices but I truly think he always had our country's best interest at heart. He made me want to be a better American. I love that he wore his flag pin everyday, I love how religious he is and I love how much he loves our country. Anyways, thanks Mckay for reminding me about how much I like him. Here is an old interview of him that I love. I watch it often because it shows me a strong, brave American. If you don't have a little more respect for him after watching this then you're crazy.
